Professional Experience
Joe Poerio is the President of Poerio Incorporated, a Pittsburgh-based general contracting firm founded by Frank T. Poerio Sr. in 1989. Before joining the family business, Joe built a diverse professional foundation spanning finance, retail, and technology. He launched his career at Federated Investors, where he developed a strong financial acumen that continues to inform his approach to project management and business operations. After earning his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, he went on to hold roles at rue21 and SAP, gaining firsthand experience in fast-paced retail operations and enterprise technology. In 2022, Joe returned to Poerio Inc. to lead the company into its next chapter of growth.
Joe's construction career began in 2016 in the field as a Project Engineer, and he has since worn every hat across the organization — from Project Manager and Estimator to leading Marketing and Operations. This hands-on, ground-up experience gives him a comprehensive understanding of every facet of the business, from preconstruction and estimating through closeout and client relationships.
Joe also holds the company's general contractor licenses in Florida, Arizona, Nevada, and California, enabling Poerio Inc. to serve clients nationwide. Today, he oversees a diverse portfolio of projects spanning retail, industrial, financial, higher education, tenant fit-outs, office, and distribution facilities across the country.
